What to know about HOCl and how to use it

What Is Hypochlorous Acid (HOCl)?

HOCl is a naturally occurring component produced by the human immune system. It is known for being gentle, non-toxic, and effective at breaking down contaminants on skin and surfaces.

Gallon HOCl (160 PPM)

In the early years, the EPA required us to produce our gallon formulation at 460 PPM—about 300 PPM stronger than what was actually necessary. After three years of EPA testing and review, we were approved to update the formulation to 160 PPM. This concentration provides excellent effectiveness while extending the shelf life to over 5 years when stored properly (keep sealed, out of direct sunlight and excessive heat).
At 160 PPM, the solution remains mild, non-toxic, and highly effective for home use.

How to Use the Gallon (Home & Surface Applications)

General household cleaning:
Pour into any clean spray bottle. Spray directly onto surfaces such as countertops, bathrooms, kitchens, door handles, light switches, and any high-touch areas. Allow to air dry or wipe if needed.
Safe to use on cutting boards, refrigerator interiors, and food prep areas. No rinse is required.
You may dilute 50% HOCl / 50% distilled water for dispersion into the air. This helps freshen shared spaces and reduces environmental contaminants.
Lightly mist onto fabric, upholstery, curtains, gym bags, and linens and allow to dry naturally.
Can be used on toys, high chairs, and diaper pails due to its gentle, non-toxic nature.

Quart Bottle Notes

The quart contains the same formulation as the gallon (160 PPM) and is no longer produced at 460 PPM.
  • The quart does not need dilution for regular use.
  • For humidifiers, it may also be diluted 50/50 with distilled water.
  • The label will soon be updated to reflect the new standardized 160 PPM concentration.

Pet Spray (300 PPM)

Our pet formulation is 300 PPM to help the spray penetrate fur and reach the skin effectively.

For Pets (Dogs, Cats, Horses, etc.)

Skin & coat refreshing:
Mist onto fur and massage gently to ensure it reaches the skin.

Spray generously and allow to air dry.

Ideal after walks; spray directly onto paws to clean and freshen.
Helps eliminate odor-causing contaminants—spray on bedding, crates, or carriers.

Skin Spray (200 PPM – 4 oz & 8 oz)

We formulated our skin spray at 200 PPM because this concentration has shown to be ideal for routine skin use.

How to Use

  • Spray directly onto the area until fully wet.
  • Do not touch or wipe—allow it to dry naturally for best results.
  • Suitable for:
    • minor skin irritation
    • environmental exposure
    • post-exercise cleansing
    • sensitive skin areas
  • Gentle enough for use multiple times per day.

Nasal Spray (5 PPM + 0.85% Sea Salt)

This is our most complex formulation, designed specifically for the nasal passages. The low HOCl concentration combined with natural sea salt creates a soothing, comfortable mist.

Recommended Use

  • Use 2 sprays in each nostril after returning from crowded environments such as:
    • airports & flights
    • concerts
    • public transportation
    • large indoor events
  • May be used daily as part of a routine nasal rinse/cleansing practice.
  • Avoid inhaling sharply while spraying; aim for a gentle, natural misting.

Storage & Shelf Life Guidelines

  • Keep products sealed when not in use.
  • Store away from direct sunlight and high heat.
  • Do not transfer into metal containers; plastic or glass is ideal.
  • Shelf life: 5+ years for 160–300 PPM products; indefinite for stabilized formulations stored correctly.
