What is Curativa Bay All About

By Alfred Granite, DDS, PhD CTO

With all the choices of skincare and cosmetic products it is difficult to know which is best. Ultimately, it boils down to a matter of what works best for you. However, it is also important to consider how a particular preparation is made. At Curativa Bay we start with the highest quality Naturally derived ingredients that have existed for thousands of years. Why?… Because time has a way of revealing the true nature of things. In addition, our ingredients evolve from successful life forms that are compatible with higher life forms.
The majority of our products are derived from terrestrial and aquatic botanicals that provide key ingredients to the skin and underlying tissues. By far the most important class of ingredients is humectants, which are substances that bind and hold water. Other important classes are antioxidant vitamins and serums, polyunsaturated and mono-saturated fats, fruit acids, oil soluble vitamins, peptides, and antibacterial and wound healing accelerators.

Humectants

Perhaps the best-known humectant used in high quality cosmetics is Hyaluronic Acid. Hyaluronic acid is a tried and true hydrator that is naturally found in the body and can decrease with age. It is a “super moisture sponge”, meaning that when applied to skin, water attaches to the molecule and plumps it up. It can hold more than one thousand times its weight in water! Therefore, it is important to apply substantial amounts of clean fresh water after using products that contain hyaluronic acid. It is ideal for use for daytime and nighttime and has the effect of smoothing skin texture and plumping up the appearance of skin.

Antioxidant Vitamins and Serums

Antioxidants can help protect your skin from free radicals and improve the look and feel of the skin’s complexion. Antioxidants are naturally occurring substances that help to stop or reduce the effect of oxidation on cells. Have you ever seen an apple turn brown? That’s oxidation. The Browning process is very similar to the effects of oxidation on skin. Skin care products with antioxidants can help to reduce the risk of skin damage caused by free radicals and oxidation and promote healthy looking skin. For example, the nourishing power of omega-rich super foods such as flaxseed, passionfruit and olive oil hydrate and visibly strengthen your skin. Vitamin E is an oil-based anti-oxidant that helps protect the skin from surface free radicals in our environment. Essentially, Vitamin E helps prevent the effects of air pollution, which would otherwise accelerate signs of skin aging. Vitamin B3/Niacinamide is one of the most revered and hardest-working ingredients in skincare. Niacinamide delivers 5 main benefits including improved moisture barrier, reduced appearance of large pores, fine lines and wrinkles, dark spots and regenerated surface skin.

Polyunsaturated and Mono-Saturated Fats

Fats and oils derived from plants are some of the most effective substances that prevent the loss of moisture and help maintain elasticity of the skin. Olive and coconut oil have been used for centuries to protect and revitalize skin particularly from damage due to the exposure to the sun. Other well-known oils such as sunflower, Argan, avocado, jojoba, and almond offer complex mixtures of polyunsaturated and mono-saturated fats and oils that provide unique moisture retention properties while maintaining the youthful glow of young skin.

Vitamin A and Fruit Acids/ Retinol

Vitamin A is the most potent wrinkle-fighting ingredient in anti-aging skincare. It helps to maintain collagen. Vitamin A is the number one wrinkle-fighting ingredient recommended by dermatologists. Retinol was discovered in 1909, isolated in 1931, and first made in 1947. Retinol works by boosting skins renewal process. It helps to remove old dull skin cells on your skin’s surface and helps to boost newer, fresher skin cells. Retinol skincare can make a significant impact on the skin’s appearance as it ages because skin cell turnover decreases. Retinol formulations help diminish multiple signs of aging by renewing the look of collagen-depleted skin. Some benefits of retinol formulations include visibly reduced appearance of fine lines and deep wrinkles, diminished look of age spots that leaves skin looking smoother and healthier, diminished appearance of crow’s feet and dark circles, and visibly reduced appearance of sun damage.

Peptides

Peptides are naturally occurring small proteins in the skin composed of a small number of amino acids linked together. They are essentially the triggers that help skin replenish collagen levels. Skincare peptides found in facial moisturizers penetrate into the skin’s surface and are clinically shown to help reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.

Antibacterial and Wound Healing Accelerator

The skin is the largest organ in the body. It is also the body’s first line of defense preventing pathogens and other irritants from entering the body without resistance. Bacteria and certain funguses are among the most dangerous organisms that attack the skin of the human body. Well-known examples of problems these pathogens cause are acne and athlete’s foot.

Acne, which is the result of skin eruptions that develop from clogged pores and surface bacteria affects children and young adults most often. In extreme cases, acne can result in permanent disfigurement by the creation of pockmarks and related scars. However, in most cases acne is a transient infection of the skin and can be controlled by regular cleaning and good skin care practices. Curativa Bay offers a safe, yet potent solution that eliminates acne though the use of hypochlorous acid which is a naturally occurring substance produced by white blood cells (neutrophils). Treating acne requires a regimen beginning with the removal of natural skin oils produced by the sebaceous glands. Quite often Witch Hazel, a well-known astringent can be used for this purpose. After drying the skin, hypochlorous acid (Curativa Bay Skin Clarifier) is sprayed on the entire affected area. After drying Advanced Hyaluronic Acid Serum is applied to prevent drying of the skin. In addition to the antibacterial/antiviral action of hypochlorous acid this substance accelerates the healing process and is very effective to speed healing of scrapes, cuts, and burns.

When Curative Bay Skin Clarifier is applied to the feet and toes it makes an excellent treatment for athlete’s feet by instantly destroying the skin fungus that is responsible for the condition and assisting the healing process.
